3 Simple Methods of Registry Clean-up
Posted under Registry Cleaner by admin
If it is taking too long for your computer to perform certain functions then, it might be time to have a registry clean-up. The latter is needed to keep the Windows registry in tip-top shape. The Windows registry is a computer directory that store options and settings for Microsoft Windows operating systems. This directory stores information on settings for the operating system software, hardware, non-operating system software, users and PC preferences.
It also gives runtime information like active hardware and performance counters. Over time, the system registry would require a registry clean-up due to the accumulation of invalid entries that may later make the entire system unreliable. The invalid or orphaned files clog the registry and cause one’s computer to slow down. Error messages may result and worse, the computer system may crash.
There are three simple ways of conducting registry clean-up. One of which is to uninstall or remove unwanted programs. Programs or applications that are no longer used can be removed from this computer directory. All files associated with the program will likewise be removed. This method will not only minimize registry size, it will also free up a significant portion of one’s disk space. Another simple registry clean-up method that can be done is to manually remove or delete orphan files and entries. Uninstalling unused applications may not sometimes be enough for complete clean-up.
Orphan or junk files may still be found in the disk or registry. Manual removal of these files can be done by deleting the application folder in the program files in drive C. The same can also be done by using the registry editor. Manual removal of orphaned files is not as easy as it sounds. In fact, the process can be very tedious. Computer experts do not recommend this since valid items may be accidentally removed.
When any of these are removed, an application or even the entire system might be rendered useless. Choosing and using a reliable registry cleaner tool from the Internet is the third method of cleaning a registry. Many of these tools have restore and registry backup features that would really be very helpful in cleaning the Windows registry.
Aside from the methods previously mentioned, it is also advisable to regularly have the registry scanned for any error so that they can be immediately repaired. Through regular registry clean-up, you will not only enjoy the benefits of a PC that runs efficiently, you will also be assured that it will last long.
