Outlook Express 6 oecom.dll error?

Posted under Registry Repair Software

Several times during a session, I am receiving the following application error, Outlook Express 6 brings up the Debug screen, I debug, then Outlook Express 6 shuts down and I have to restart.

Faulting application msimn.exe, version 6.0.2800.1807, faulting module oecom.dll, version 3.2.1.0, fault address 0×0000dde0

Can anyone suggest a fix (perhaps a software program), other than complicated registry repairs, reinstalling windows XP professional, etc. as my computer knowledge is limited.

Thanks.

Antivirus XP 2010 browser problems?

Posted under Registry Repair Software

I recently got the antivirus xp 2010 virus on my computer on March 16th. i was able to use antivirus softwares like Malware Bytes and Super AntiSpyware to detect the corrupt files and quarantine or fix the problems.Thankfully since then i dont get any pop ups and have gotten rid of the virus.However since trying to fix the problem i cannot open any of my browsers; Internet Explorer, Firefox or even Google Chrome.all other .exe files work on my computer but none of the internet browsers will open whatsoever.My task manager displays them once ive clicked them but the actual browsers do not show up. I have tried the to repair the registry with the "FixExe" registry that has been posted alot online but still no luck.Can anyone figure out how to get my internet browsers to open?
By the way when i meant that i cant open browsers i really meant that i cannot open any single internet browser.I still have internet connection on my system.

What is this scary message that I received on Skype? Was it a scam..I reported them..please advise.?

Posted under Registry Repair Software

I signed off of a video call last night and while my skype was still active…I got a request to connect from some stranger calling himself something like "Urgent you PC needs protection" or something like this..I cannot remember and I certainly did not honor his request and I also reported the whole incident to Skype abuse department.
I will post what I received from this person/entity last night and I ask someone out there to please advise me if following my instinct was correct…I am thinking there is a very very very slight chance that maybe the message was real..but I cannot imagine Microsoft contacting me using "Skype" hehe
The whole thing scared me enough that I began to be afraid for my less computer savvy friend overseas and I immediately ripped off an email to him that said.."If you get this message below that I have pasted here please do not respond to it nor add them to your contacts…I sent him this email because I would feel terrible/partly responsible if something happened to my friend on Skype or through Skype somehow because I am the one who encouraged my friend to download Skype and play with me on Skype because if was very fun to talk over 4000 miles away on a video call. My friend who is very nice I think humored me and downloaded SKype and learned to use it even with his limited computer skills..he is very nice guy because I think he did this only for me….I read somewhere that you can tell a true friend because they will ablidge your requests sometimes just because they see that you want to do it even if they do not..kind of like how FDR although afflicted with polio climbed a very tall tower just to humor his friend Churchill just because it was so important to his friend..it is a very touching story and if anyone has time I recommend you check into that..I think it happened at the first conference of the allied powers in Africa or Yalta or somewhere…Churchill wanted FDR to see the view from the top of this staircase/tower and FDR later said he went through all the struggle because his friend wanted him to do this so bad..it is very interesting and it kind of reminded me of my friend overseas sitting there struggling to learn about skype although he did not know how to turn on a computer six months ago..
Anyways…I got immediately scared for my friend and I fired off the email below to him…did I do the right thing or am I scaring my friend for nothing? I hope I did the right thing to warn him…that is most of my question here…but also I am wondering what the message from that entity could have been about if not a scam of some kind…and if it was a scam..what kind could it have been…Identity theft? Possible Identity theft is what I immemdiately suspected but I dont really know..I would appreciate you guy’s opinion that know a lot about internet security and programming etc..
here is a paste of the email I sent to my friend and within that email you will also get the information on the message I got via skype;

Dear xxxxxx,
Dear friend,
I just got a skype message that says what I have pasted below…Please if you get a message like this…DO NOT follow it..ignore this message completely…it is a scam and they are trying to get into your personal information or something dirty…Microsoft would never contact you this way…please know not to pay any attention to this message if you get it on Skype like I just did;

The following message is a scam and do not do what they say…delete them and do not add them to your contacts like they say….I am afraid for you friend and although I am sure you are not naive, I just want to make sure…here is the message I received and Hope you dont get one as well…if you dont get a message like this then please just disregard this email…but here is the random message I got on Skype from some person out there with ill intentions, do not respond to this message below if you get one also…ignore it;

My computer is acting strange!?

Posted under Registry Repair Software

Every time open Internet Explorer, it sometimes opens up just fine, sometimes without the address bar, menu bars, and toolbars, and sometimes it just comes up as a white page. It just happens randomly in one of these two cases. When I go to add/remove programs, the page doesn’t load as if it’s blocked. When I try to download things the download box just disappears or it tells me there’s an error and closes it. Before, I was getting this message when I opened Internet Explorer that said Error Running Dll as An App.

Is it because of the registry? I tried using registry repair softwares but I’m still ending up with the same problem.

Any help is appreciated and thanks beforehand.

Can anyone recommend a good free registry cleaner/repair software?

Posted under Registry Repair Software

My windows XP is running slower and slower and I suspect it may be down to registry problems. I have been running this PC for just over 3 years, use it every day and have a stack of software loaded. (I don’t think I have malware or viruses as I have always used AVG, Superantispyware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-aware and Zone Alarm).

I don’t have Windows XP disks as it is an Acer and did not come with backup disks that would permit me to do a repair install.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Thanks for all the suggestions – I’ll look at them all.

Lorro, thanks for the idea to use ERecovery – can you tell me whether it strips all the loaded programs and data out or does it attempt to work around these things so back up is a safety precaution?
