does anybody know anything about registry repair or windows registry repair?

I hope you didn’t already pay for it because it is not worth it, registry "repairs" as they say rarely work, you can however clean your registry out for free. Two excellent registry cleaners are CCleaner, http://www.ccleaner.com/ which has a registry scanner and junk file cleaner (better than Windows tools) and for just registry cleaning there is RegCleaner, http://www.tweaknow.com/RegCleaner.html/ Get both of those and they will serve you well.
Also, just so you know both of them work effectively and won’t mess up your PC after they are done, some registry cleaners actually remove valid entries and I’ve never had that problem with either of these programs. RegCleaner will even mark what can and can’t be safely removed, if it isn’t labled "safe for removal" don’t remove it. CCleaner does not do that but all it lists are safely removed entries.
Yes. It’s VERY dangerous unless you REALLY, REALLY know what you’re doing. Make a mistake and you have a boat anchor instead of a computer. There are books and web sites, but find someone who does know this terrain and pay them to help you. THe old days of .ini files were harmless, easy to back up, decentralized and safe. The registry is one of the worst ideas microsoft ever had.
