Great connection, sluggish internet…. Please Help!!?
Posted under Registry Repair Software by adminI can’t seem to figure out why my PC is getting such bad retrieval from the internet. My modem is turbo fast with all bars lit up, every other item that connects to it is super fast, but my PC seems to take FOREVER to do anything online.
At times, even google.com or youtube are considered to be "offline" because "server is taking too long to respond", when in fact I know that it’s my computer that is refusing to actually DO anything. A 30 second youtube video takes roughly ten minutes to download. Checking my email sometimes takes all morning to achieve.
I’ve done all of the obvious. All temporary internet files have been deleted, cookies, cache, etc. I’ve ran numerous virus and spyware scans with the top software. No threats or malicious software found. My firewall is fine. I’ve ran CCleaner, scanned and repaired all registry errors. I’ve tried Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Google Chrome and Safari. No luck.
How can I have a super fast connection, no spyware or un-needed programs installed, yet my computer is browsing like its 1990? Help please!
The number one thing you need to do is power cycle your modem. Shut down your pc. Unplug your modem, and wait 40 seconds. Plug it in, wait for the lights to come up then turn on your pc. See if that helps.
Next one of your programs on your computer is conflicting, I’ve seen this a few times with Dells, The dell support and online help cause it. If using a dell uninstall those. If none of this works you need to use Ccleaner start up manager and turn off programs from running at start up. You should do two at once. Anymore than that and it will be to hard to figure out which one is caused it. Turn off two programs in the start up manager, then restart your computer. Go online if still slow, go back into Ccleaner turn those two back on and then disable two more restart your computer go online see if it’s fixed. Keep doing this till you find the problem.
You can also try this tool before doing any of the above. Note it has a system Optimization tool which may find it. It also has a tool that will tweak firefox, but you don’t need that one. Your problem is more than a tweaking problem. This program is called Advanced SystemCare free works great and may help you.
