There are some of them which are good but non of them does their job for 10%. I mean non of the cleans the registry for 100%. I use tree of the the first one is the Ccleaner, the other on is TuneUp Utilites registry cleaner and the third one is Registry Mechanic. In my opinion this are the good ones. HOWEVER, it is nearly impossible to completely uninstall once running. After running into a problem using it, I once had to format my hard drive and re-install the OS. Knowledge and information are key in performing any registry cleanup. Whatever software you use to modify your registry, be certain that you know what it does and how it does it. (Ex. To clean a glass, I sometimes just run water over it, my wife will always use hot soapy water, my mother washes them in soapy water then insists on washing them in the dishwasher.) It's just that "cleaning" the registry may mean different things to different software companies, as well as their programming staff, so beware. Being a Mathematician, Electrical Engineer, and Computer Scientist, I have worked in the computer industry as theorizer, designer, builder, programmer, manager, director, and owner for 37 years with companies like General Electric, Nortel Networks, Bell Northern Research, Alcatel, International Business Machines, and words that ring out are Buyer Beware. Know what you are installing to run on your computer. Honestly less is more. Have an effective hardware firewall and use it to block sites you question. Just don't go there and you won't have a problem. If you have enough money, have two computers. Super secure one and have your private information contained therein, Have active spy ware and virus ware running all the time + have additional spy ware run at intervals. And this machine will be slower. On the other, let it be wide open and minimally secured so that it is lightning fast. Have minimal personal information on that one. Weekly run your spy ware and virus ware programs to see if you picked up a leech and if so burn it off. Transfer good data from the second to the first at intervals to keep them concurrent. Now with Big Brother watching we use infantile storage and security strategies. But remember, no computer, no matter how guarded, can withstand a united frontal assault from knowledgeable hardware/software experts. Your best bet is to keep your security data split up and spread over as many devices as possible using whatever encryption decryption utilities you may conjure.
