Is Registry Cleaner Software Safe?
Posted under Registry Cleaner by John EdwardAs somebody who probably hopes to keep their PC running in tip-top condition for a while, you’re rightly concerned about whether registry cleaning utilities are safe to use. While you know enough to know that your Window’s registry is vitally important to your computer – that’s probably the extent of your knowledge in this area.
You’re actually in luck because the majority of these tools are designed for the people that don’t know too incredibly much about registries. As with all things there are going to be some risks and the purpose of this article is to teach you about them so that you may avoid them altogether:
1. Sometimes it’s possible to get a cleaner that has a malware or other type of bug.
2. The cleaner doesn’t do any sort of backup which could lead to issues later on while trying to repair your registry.
The greatest part about all of this is you’ll be able to avoid those kinds of registry cleaners and never run into these problems.
Malware-Infected Registry Cleaners
Usually these malware-infected registry cleaners are presented in the “scareware” advertisements in which they say that your PC is infected and if you don’t act now, a virus will eat your hard drive or something ridiculous like that. They may also tell you that your IP is being broadcast to the entire world, etc. If you’ve been an internet use for some time then you have likely run into such things.
These ads are generally very persistent – they’ll take over your browser, try to force a download, or flash a page to you that states your registry is corrupted, you have traces of illegal activity on your PC, or similar wording. In other words, “scareware” – the company plays the fear card in order to get you to download and install their software.
Not every single piece of scareware will end in a malware download, but there are high odds that it will happen if you rely on such advertisements for all of your anti-spyware and anti-malware needs.
In order to stop this it would be best to get registry cleaning utilities from certified websites, and not websites that try to scare you into making a download. If you do this you have a way of knowing every single thing that has been downloaded, and that really works in your favor. You also need to look closely at their website and see how well it is designed. A properly designed website usually indicates a well made product.
Registry Cleaning Tools Without a Backup Option
Your Window’s registry is undeniably sensitive, and it literally controls your entire Windows-based computer system. Because registry cleaning software cannot plan for every anomaly in your computer’s registry – there is a minute chance that a registry cleaning will weigh unfavorably with a certain application at one point in time. This is actually very rare, at least amongst professional registry-cleaning products, but it’s something that could happen, nonetheless.
If the tool you’re thinking of getting doesn’t have a good interface and you are unable to navigate it, then don’t even use it because it won’t be good for you. If you make one mistake you’ll have a mess on your hands. Make sure that the cleaner you obtain has options to back up, and so long as you can do this, you won’t have any problems.
The dangers that come with registry cleaning aren’t substantial so long as you do your best to prevent problems. You must avoid downloading from places that you know are scareware advertisements and avoid using registry cleaners that do not have a backup option.
By using this advice you’ll have the ability to choose a registry cleaner that will take good care of your machine.
