Slow computer: registry help?

Posted under Registry Cleaning Software by admin

Every computer i’ve had has gotten much, much slower the longer i’ve had it. I clean out what I can through the basic ‘delete’ features on XP, but ultimately my understanding is that a clogged registry is the cause of much of the problem. Unfortunately, no matter what program or software is recommended, I don’t know enough about computers to know what registry items to keep or delete.

Any recommendations for registry cleaning for dummies?

I will profess to be in the dark too when it comes to speeding up one’s computer or what have you but I did eventually stumble on a program called regeasy cleaner that made a difference in my computer’s performance! I was able to also read up on some of this mysterious aspect of keeping your computer running smoothly too given that there are some great information books that you can get from Amazon.com

Good luck with your computer speed!

I would advise you not to mess with the registry unless you and an expert with computers. Making changes to the registry can make your computer inoperable. There are many things that could be causing your computer to run slow. You may have spyware, your computer might be out of storage capacity, or it could be as simple as running a defrag on your computer.

The Defrag should be your first step.
You said you have XP so give this a shot

If you would like to check out the registry to make sure there are no errors you should use one of these programs.

The registry is very complex but extremely stable. There is a lot of bad information and fear mongering gamers out there. My first question is why do these so called registry fixers all make you accept that they are not responsible for anything that goes wrong using their software? Do you think that Microsoft would not offer a registry tool to repair errors? For the most part, these huge amounts of errors that the pretenders report are items that have been marked to be ignored and are not errors or problems. If you put into perspective how fast the cpu reads, even if there where several hundred of these we’re only talking nano seconds so why take a chance on something that insignificant?

You would be wiser to check the event log for repeating errors and work on fixing them, reduce the number of programs that start up when you boot but aren’t being used, keep windows updated, look to streamline the number of services running and if you have the XP install cd, run system file checker occasionally. This is activated by clicking start, run and enter "sfc /scannow" then click ok. It requires the cd to repair or replace any corrupted or missing system files.

The only registry "cleaner" I trust and will use is "ccleaner" available at this link

  5. Lion Yesheng Said,

Windows registry is a hierarchical database containing settings and configuration for the operating system, user profiles, document types, system hardware, programs and so much more. It is considered as the central repository for all configurations on your computer. In an ideal world, the registry will work perfectly whenever you make changes to the Windows registry like after uninstalling programs. However, this is not the reality and registry errors happen and uninstall routines will always leave unwanted registry entries. In time, all these errors and invalid registry entries will add up causing a lot of time wasted in reading information in the registry that does not reference to any programs. This is the reason why cleaning registry is very important to keep computers running smooth. Here is how to speed up http://perfect-your-computer.com your Windows computer using registry cleaners
