What is this scary message that I received on Skype? Was it a scam..I reported them..please advise.?

Posted under Registry Repair Software by admin

I signed off of a video call last night and while my skype was still active…I got a request to connect from some stranger calling himself something like "Urgent you PC needs protection" or something like this..I cannot remember and I certainly did not honor his request and I also reported the whole incident to Skype abuse department.
I will post what I received from this person/entity last night and I ask someone out there to please advise me if following my instinct was correct…I am thinking there is a very very very slight chance that maybe the message was real..but I cannot imagine Microsoft contacting me using "Skype" hehe
The whole thing scared me enough that I began to be afraid for my less computer savvy friend overseas and I immediately ripped off an email to him that said.."If you get this message below that I have pasted here please do not respond to it nor add them to your contacts…I sent him this email because I would feel terrible/partly responsible if something happened to my friend on Skype or through Skype somehow because I am the one who encouraged my friend to download Skype and play with me on Skype because if was very fun to talk over 4000 miles away on a video call. My friend who is very nice I think humored me and downloaded SKype and learned to use it even with his limited computer skills..he is very nice guy because I think he did this only for me….I read somewhere that you can tell a true friend because they will ablidge your requests sometimes just because they see that you want to do it even if they do not..kind of like how FDR although afflicted with polio climbed a very tall tower just to humor his friend Churchill just because it was so important to his friend..it is a very touching story and if anyone has time I recommend you check into that..I think it happened at the first conference of the allied powers in Africa or Yalta or somewhere…Churchill wanted FDR to see the view from the top of this staircase/tower and FDR later said he went through all the struggle because his friend wanted him to do this so bad..it is very interesting and it kind of reminded me of my friend overseas sitting there struggling to learn about skype although he did not know how to turn on a computer six months ago..
Anyways…I got immediately scared for my friend and I fired off the email below to him…did I do the right thing or am I scaring my friend for nothing? I hope I did the right thing to warn him…that is most of my question here…but also I am wondering what the message from that entity could have been about if not a scam of some kind…and if it was a scam..what kind could it have been…Identity theft? Possible Identity theft is what I immemdiately suspected but I dont really know..I would appreciate you guy’s opinion that know a lot about internet security and programming etc..
here is a paste of the email I sent to my friend and within that email you will also get the information on the message I got via skype;

Dear xxxxxx,
Dear friend,
I just got a skype message that says what I have pasted below…Please if you get a message like this…DO NOT follow it..ignore this message completely…it is a scam and they are trying to get into your personal information or something dirty…Microsoft would never contact you this way…please know not to pay any attention to this message if you get it on Skype like I just did;

The following message is a scam and do not do what they say…delete them and do not add them to your contacts like they say….I am afraid for you friend and although I am sure you are not naive, I just want to make sure…here is the message I received and Hope you dont get one as well…if you dont get a message like this then please just disregard this email…but here is the random message I got on Skype from some person out there with ill intentions, do not respond to this message below if you get one also…ignore it;

  1. Emmy Said,

    Yes, it’s a scam. I don’t know why anyone would fall for a security alert delivered through Skype.

  2. bert_beer Said,

    You were right in NOT clicking – It would have released a NASTY virus on your system
